One of Estonia’s Most Distinguished Gynaecologists, Dr Piret Veerus, Joins the Terena Team

Dr Piret Veerus, one of Estonia’s most distinguished gynaecologists, has joined the team of gynaecologists at Terena Clinic. In addition to more than 35 years of clinical practice, Dr Veerus has made significant contributions to scientific research and the development of cervical cancer screening programmes.
Dr Piret Veerus says her decision to join Terena was driven by her desire to continue working in an environment where high-quality medical care and a patient-centred approach go hand in hand.
“As a physician, I have always considered a trusting relationship with my patients to be of utmost importance, along with the opportunity to provide treatment based on scientific evidence, extensive experience, and modern therapeutic options. Terena’s values and vision strongly resonated with me, and I became convinced that it offers a trustworthy and supportive working environment that enables physicians to focus on what matters most – helping patients,” said Dr Veerus.
According to Dr Lee Padrik, Founder of Terena, Dr Veerus’s arrival marks another important milestone in the clinic’s continued investment in outstanding medical specialists and state-of-the-art technology.
“With her extensive experience, professionalism, and respected standing in Estonian medicine, Dr Piret Veerus is one of the country’s most highly regarded specialists. Alongside her daily clinical work, she has also devoted considerable energy to scientific research. Her joining Terena is excellent news for both our clinic and our patients,” said Dr Padrik.
Dr Piret Veerus graduated cum laude from the University of Tartu in 1990 and earned her PhD cum laude from the University of Tampere in 2007. She has published more than 60 scientific papers on women’s health in international peer-reviewed journals and is also a member of the working group responsible for the European Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Cervical Cancer Screening. In 2020, Dr Veerus was awarded the Estonian Red Cross III Class Order of Merit, and since 2022 she has served as President of the Estonian Society of Gynaecologists.
At the end of June, Tallinn Specialist Medical Centre announced the beginning of a new stage in its development and introduced the name Terena. The rebranding reflects the clinic’s substantial investments in recent years in attracting leading medical specialists, acquiring cutting-edge medical technology, and expanding its services. Terena, formerly known as Tallinn Specialist Medical Centre, was founded in 2018 by Dr Lee Padrik and Dr Kristina Kuhi with the aim of providing high-quality specialist healthcare and bringing together experts from different medical fields under one roof. Today, the clinic employs more than 80 people.
