Terena begins supporting the TalTech/ALEXELA basketball team

02. September 2026

Terena Private Clinic has begun a cooperation with the TalTech/ALEXELA basketball team, providing the team’s players with access to advanced diagnostics and specialist medical support. The broader aim of the partnership is to support the health and physical activity of young people and contribute to promoting healthy lifestyles.

According to Dr Kristina Kuhi, Member of the Management Board of Terena, the clinic and the basketball team share a common understanding that maintaining good health requires consistent investment, and that preventing health problems is at least as important as treating them. “Medicine is not only about treating diseases. A significant part of our health is shaped by the choices we make every day, and regular physical activity is one of the most important investments a person can make in their health. That is why it is natural for us to support an organisation that inspires people to be active and demonstrates through its example that physical activity is an integral part of a healthy lifestyle,” said Dr Kuhi. “Terena’s role is to provide the team with access to experienced specialists and advanced diagnostics, so that decisions concerning athletes’ health are based on the best possible medical information.”

According to Alar Varrak, representative of the TalTech/ALEXELA basketball team, having a strong medical partner gives a professional team, above all, peace of mind.

“To play basketball at the highest level, every detail within the team needs to be in place. In professional sport, it is important to assess an athlete’s health as a whole. Fast and accurate diagnostics help make well-informed decisions in the event of an injury or health concern, as well as plan further treatment and recovery,” said Varrak. “High-level medical support is extremely important for maintaining the team’s performance and strength.”

“Sport creates extraordinary emotions and is a very powerful way of communicating important messages. The message behind our cooperation is to emphasise the importance of physical activity for people’s health,” added Dr Kristina Kuhi.

Terena Clinic (formerly Tallinna Eriarstikeskus) is a private clinic established in 2018 and now employs more than 80 specialists. The clinic’s recent name change reflects its investments in state-of-the-art medical technology and in bringing the best specialist doctors on board.

For the TalTech/ALEXELA basketball club, 2026 has been a successful year. In May, the team won the bronze medal in the Estonian Championship. In the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League, the team finished in 6th place.
